Training at 1,400 metres above sea level
Article - Training at 1,400 metres above sea level
Professional and efficient preparation lays the foundation for top-class sporting achievements. The Biathlon Arena Lenzerheide and the Lenzerheide holiday region offer athletes and trainers the best possible conditions for training camps at 1,400 metres above sea level.
The biathlon facility was opened in 2013 and is the first and only permanent biathlon facility that meets competition standards in Switzerland. It comprises a fully automatic shooting range with 30 World Cup-compliant benches for a shooting distance of 50 metres and a control centre. An additional 20 target stands can be converted as needed for airgun training sessions or competitions with a shooting distance of 10 metres.
The Biathlon Arena Lenzerheide offers athletes the perfect conditions for training, in summer as well as in winter. During the winter months it has six snow-covered cross-country circuits of 1.5 to 4 kilometres as well as a 150-metre penalty loop. The Arena is also linked to the 56-kilometre network of cross-country tracks of the Lenzerheide holiday region. In summer the area surrounding the Arena offers athletes ideal training opportunities with a challenging 1.5-kilometre roller ski track as well as many bike and hiking trails.
An athletics room (120 square metres) is available for athletes at the Biathlon Arena Lenzerheide's Nordic House. This room is not accessible to the public and is reserved for the exclusive use of top athletes and talented young athletes.
The SKLZ products are perfectly suited to a specific and varied athletics training programme.
