Biathlon competition. Emotion.

Since the opening of the shooting range in 2013, the Lenzerheide location has regularly applied for national and international biathlon competitions of growing importance through Swiss-Ski. The organisation of the IBU Youth & Junior World Championships Biathlon in January 2020 was the most important milestone on the way to the big goal of bringing the World Cup to Switzerland. In the 2013/14 season, the first international competition, the Biathlon Alpine Cup, was held in Lenzerheide. In the years that followed, competitions were held as part of the IBU Junior Cup and the IBU Cup.

On 14 November 2020, the entire Swiss sport experienced a historic moment: the IBU Biathlon World Championships 2025 were awarded to Lenzerheide. At the virtual congress of the world federation IBU, the Swiss World Championships bid prevailed over its competitor Minsk-Raubichi from Belarus.

For the first time ever, the Elite Biathlon World Championships will be held in Switzerland. Just three months after the historic award of the Biathlon World Championships, the sport of biathlon in Switzerland has reached another milestone. In February 2021, the biathlon world federation IBU published the World Cup calendar up to and including the 2025/26 Olympic season, showing that the Roland Arena in Lantsch/Lenz will host World Cup competitions for the first time in the 2023/24 season (December 2023). In the season before (January 2023), the IBU Open European Championships (OECH) will also be held at the same venue.
